  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Channel Z - The Dragon's Den

Nice stuph, Josh. Haven't read the entire thread, but it would be nice if REDCine-X offered a curve option for blending between the A and X frames...

Yup, the Simple Blend is real good but a slider to be able to control the mix between the frames would be a sweet addition to allow creative control

Mmmm… wait… there is a slider or did I misread that?

Yes, there is already a slider for this control.

I'd love to see an "S-Curves" type control, however.

. . . how dafuq did I miss that little slider button?!? Actually, not it's as useful as I hoped for. S-curves or some cool dynamic control to work the Blend would be nifty

If you want to shoot real HDR video there is only one way to do it. We've been shooting real 22 stop footage with the M and MX sensor for years now.

So you shoot 2x REDs like a 3D rig - shooting one over, one under exposed then process them together in post? Is this a rig you made yourself? Pics?

Here's some high DR shots I took a couple nights ago on Dragon without HDR. I'm impressed with the out of camera, single frame DR latitude provided. The patio shot with the hanging lights blows my mind.

Can someone please explain the process? My HDRx either looks too dark or just lousy. I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to blend the 2 frames properly. Or is there a thread you can point me to?

Having some bumps myself. Seems like my X-frame is now like -6 stops regardless of setting. Will formally test when I get a chance. If there is a thread that goes into detail on HDRX please advise someone.

I have always preferred Magic Motion over Simple Blend. You're not getting all of the latitude but it blends much better IMO.

Nice work Luke - rich and lush! Looking at that footage I believe you can do everything, except the sun through the trees, with straight up Dragon A-frame. The DR on Dragon is the real deal

Zeb im tweaking one shot that you posted and highlights looks magenta on RCX,when i export JPG it looks ok. dont get it
