CF side module compatibility?

[jonathan murphy]

Is the CF side module compatible with a non CF Dragon body? If so is anyone selling one? Trying to get weight down.

Id like to know that too!

I don't know. I recall the normal mini module not work on the CF EPIC Dragon. I thought they had to do something special for heat management. The module does not weigh that much, I doubt it is worth it. If you look at the Weapon, it does not have a CF SSD media module, it is most likely magnesium.

I remember reading somewhere on the forums here that the CF SSD module isn't for use with the metal Epic/scarlet bodies. Don't recall a clear reason why exactly.

The CF SSD modules are only made to order as part of an Epic Carbon Fiber camera package and aren't for sale separately on the RED website either, so I doubt there'd be many for sale second-hand.

Possible compatibility issues aside, you could try getting RED to make one for you, but the actual weight savings probably wouldn't be worth what they'd have to charge you for it.
