Hi Brent,
I have referenced that quote, which, I believe is from about one month ago. Now, Jarred has VERY graciously offered to allow the CF Dragon owners to trade out the CF large SSD, for the Mini CF SSD, at no charge. The reason I raised this point approx. three months ago, is that I did not want to buy larger mags and have to sell them, what was to be a short time later. Thanks Jarred.
Slow forward to Keith's complaint. The fact is that the Epic X upgrades can use the mini SSD (Al+) and mini mags (more economical and , at least as important, better performanc-including off loading speeds), while the $50,000 camera can't get those features. This has, no doubt caused the CF Dragon to be less desirable to various users, etc., who know those differences.
I understand that RED is going to issue a directive to not use the Al+ mini SSD with the CF body, while ir=t seems that there are others in the field, who are already doing that.
It would be very helpful to have clarification on the status of ANY mini SSD that can be used, without regard to voiding any party of warranties, on the CF Dragon cameras. I, for one, would be likely to buy the mini Al+,as disparate as it would look, to compete with the Epic X upgraded cameras. I was told recently that 32oGb of footage was downloaded, for example , from 512 mini SSD in 20 minutes-not Dragon footage, but still. Also, as Keith implores, a CF update is in order.
Keith, you have been here a long time. Appreciate your sentiment. It'll work out...but we do need a remedy of some sort now.
