  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

CF cardreader doesn't mount on Leopard?!

It's a known issue. Sandisk USB CF readers are having problems as well. Try putting a CF card in the reader before you boot up or connecting the reader once Leopard is booted and running for a bit. Let me know if any of that works.

Tico,

What type of transfer speeds are you seeing with the FireWire 400..and what type of MacPro render times are you seeing based on your processor speed ?

Thanks

thanks, tried all possible combinations.. not working..

hmm..

I guess this is another good reason to buy the Lexar FW800 reader. Works 100% every time in Leopard. :)

I have had no problems at all with the SanDisk EXTREME FW800 on to my Macbook Pro with Leopard, and I must say it downloads my 8GB Sandisk IV very fast considering that the sizes of each photo are about 12 to 16mb.

.. that's nice and confusing to hear.. :)

so could it be a hardware problem with iMacs?

Edit:

very funky: i tried it now on the FW 800 port - ahm... (cough, cough) it suddenly works..
why didn't i have that idea before... yeah! because i was too lazy to disconnect my external harddisk..
still i think it should mount on 400 aswell..
sory guys - thanks for all the replys and hej: in bout 3 hours we have 2008 - wish you all a good slide!

For some reason it happens often that FW800 don't work well on USB or FW400.

But glad that it works now.

Anyway at this time and age never use anything less then FW800 as is the only way to get the 40/45MBS downloads happening with out getting old in front of your computer.

Had one of two Lexar 800 FW CF readers DOA out of the box new from Lexar in November. Took more than 2 weeks for the RMA exchange and I got back a beat up unit.

My favorite part was the Lexar customer service - NOT! The guy would not give me the RMA until he was done reading from his computer script some where in India. I tried to cut him off with, "No I'm not an idot and yes I tried numerous cables on multiple computers the unit is DOA." Followed by (in heavy Indian accent), "I am sorry Sir but I do not understand what means DOA."

Great product - piss poor customer support.

Oh... That's not good. I haven't had to deal with their tech support since my reader has been working great for a few months now. I'm planning to buy a couple more though for use with RED. Hope the next couple arrive in working order and prove as reliable as the one I have now. The sloppy insertion and eject mechanics have always had me worried though. I'll definitely have at least 2 readers on me anywhere I'm offloading CF cards.
