Hi all,
I have a second question,
I would like to know if is possible to use with the RED ONE a different CF card and card reader than the RED CF card? What are the tech specifications? Do you recomend any model of CF card?

Thank you very much.

Rodrigo,

Other CF cards work, but RED has designed their cards specifically for speed. Most other cards aren't up to the same speed, so either they will not work at all, or will work but only under certain settings.

I have 10 Lexar 8GB CF cards, they work absolutely fine so far, but I'm limited on frame rate speeds when I shoot in 2k.

Thanks Justin,
RED CF cards are Lexar 300x, so I think that any CF card 300x can do the same job. I´m wrong?

Again, thank you very much

Not all 300x CF cards can do SUSTAINED 300x read and write. That's the problem. This has been brought up many many times, and so far the only ones that seem to work are the RED branded cards and the Lexar 300x can work okay.

only the 8gb card is a lexar card - we tested the lexar 16gb but this card is not usefull - and cannot do all the stuff the red card can

Is it possible to shoot 4K 16:9 RC28 on a 8GB Lexar 300xcard ?

Yes, I have 5 of them and this works. More fancy settings will not work.

Thanks for the info ! So 4K RC36 won´t work, right ?
What about 4K HD RC26 and RC36 ?

Oh, and what build are you using ? Have you made the CF card reader update, too ?

Frank

4K 16:9 RC36 won't work. Haven't tried 4K HD.

I'm on build 17, but they worked the same on 16. Updated card reader, worked the same on the old one.

Will only the Red card reader read the Red CF card? Or is it possible to import with another device?

4KHD only in RC28. Have a feeling 4K 2:1 will work at RC36, but can't remember for sure.

Any CF reader should work in theory to offload the cards - we use the Lexar Pro FW800 card reader (as do most, I believe). Never had a problem with it...

Cheers,
Dom.
