Two interesting questions in one message.
I understand that right now you can only record on 8GB CF cards from RED, at $199 each. So since we have a dual CF slot on Scarlet, we will probably buy two 8GB cards.
How much recording time will that give us with the 3K size? Are 16GB or 32GB cards likely to appear that will be fast enough for this?
I know many people have been suggesting that the workflow is too complex. If my memory serves, though, it's not that different from AVCHD where you have to process the camera files into QuickTime and then copy them. And of course the quality will render AVCHD laughable.
From the manual, it looks like you can copy the QuickTime proxies to FCP and start editing, or you can use one of the conversion tools to check out your image, correct color temperature if needed, and then convert to QuickTime for FCP.
Can this be reasonably done on a high-end MacBook Pro with full capacity RAM (4GB), or do we really need a Mac Pro to handle it?
