  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Certified RED Service Training

Ketch, don’t offer here, grab the phone and lobby RED.
Though for RED it does make sense to get the deal with some company that already offers similar services worldwide. Easier from admin point of view but more expensive, though supporting independent shops with good name as a addition will not hurt ether.

RED don’t lock yourself with yet another exclusive arrangement.
OK untill NAB 2009

Right you are Andrew,

and I will, take this offering to RED, but I think I already have.

My intention it is not to substitute a already experienced and established company already well involved in this type of services, my intention is to offer an extra home base for RED in Italy, for any services that they might wish to give via my facility.

My house, can be their house and in return any REDUSER's house.

Ciao

*push*

any news about that issue?

Since my red camera has had to be sent back to red in california, I am really thinking to a red services in europe, and i would suggest switzerland as it is geographically right in the middle of europe. There is digital camera rental facility that do services on camera and that ordered some red camera, so they would be a good applicant to be certified red services.

ciao,
antoine.

Yes please, Red, at least one service center in Europe is really needed.
Switzeland, Germany, France, Prague, or wherever you want, but please make it happen soon.

Knowing that you'll have to send your camera back to the other end of the world if you have the slightest (hardware) issue is pretty scary...

I'm sure a lot of facilities would be happy to help.

Nils.

I've heard this issue addressed a few times - and it's a very important issue to everyone who's not right around the corner from the RED facility. Every time someone from RED says this is in the works and we're told to stay tuned. I've been tuned in since September and still nothing. Sorry guys but it's getting a bit old, really.

It is in the works... Stay tuned.

Also I suggest organizing "RED certified" support for each country.

I think it makes a lot of sense to have service technicians at rental houses trained in Red service. There's at least one rental house in almost all major cities so this would cover a lot of ground. For example, in Boston we have Boston Camera/Rule. If their tech could be certified, it would mean they could repair their own cameras and offer it as a service to other camera owners perhaps pulling in an extra revenue stream. Not sure if this is something these rental companies will want to be doing, but it's an interesting possibility.
