Certified RED Service Training.
From my personal experience with the camera I see the need for RED to start organizing RED camera service training. I wouldn’t mind to take such training myself since we work in the remote areas and shipping the hardware from there is almost impossible.
Taking spare parts with us is very possible and it is what we do with all other equipment.
But forget about remote areas, just East coast (New York or Toronto) or Europe.
Would be nice, to have someone that will be authorised to do the RED service.
Yes, I know, I know priorities.................
It just happened to me that one of the connectors or cards inside the RED doesn’t sit well and just to push it in I have to send the camera back to RED HQ.
Well no complains here, one guy knows how to push and the other will push bit too hard, ouch!
Also future upgrades of modules (cards) will not require all of us shipping the camera again.
Number of trained RED camera owners could pay the visit to the other RED camera owner that didn’t take RED Service Training and did the card upgrade. Kind of a doctor house call.
This is on top of approaching existing camera service centers to do the service in the centralized fashion.
Just a thought, it may work, nobody tried it yet, except the PC world. Dell has this network of small shops authorised to do card swaps and upgrades doing house calls,
or they will ship you the card and then they will guide you on the phone how to change it.
Dell is very successful company, we can learn something from them.
What I am proposing though is, one RED owner helping another RED owner.
NO...... I am not going to open RED camera to push this damn connector in, I am shipping.
