A lot of us are getting our cameras, and a lot of us are planning to rent them.
The problem with that is that a lot of owners have only one or two cameras, and renting them contains a risk. if camera breaks down, there's usually no time to repair it or look for a replacement.

The idea is to gather ourselves into a sub community, managed by simple informational system, which helped to track down available red cameras in region, contact their owners, and be safe in case of an emergency.

Also this could serve as a good proxy for rentals with bigger needs (e.g. project requiring 5 or more reds)

I thought about this for some time, and come up with few baseline concepts:

There shouldn't be any personal information in the system, except contact info.
System would be private access only. Only other red owners could see this.

Actual information needed, is your camera #, ways to contact you when you register
and your cameras availability in time later.

Everyone could still rent their camera on their own, but if in need for another, easily find available cameras to rent.

System would be extremely simple, that you'd need minimal to no time to update your cameras' status

It would be free to join, and requiring minimal management to sustain, so no monthly fees or anything. Just a thing to help find each other.

Other good thing out of this, a lot of rental facilities don't own all equipment they rent, and if they need some specific item, look in other places and re-rent it. This sub-community could serve as a good resource in this case, and could get extra visibility for lone red owners.

There's a lot of stuff that still needs to be discussed and thought trough, like pricing, priorities, but i think we need this kind of thing

So if you own a red, or have one on its way, and want to participate in this, pm, email or skype me. I'm currently limited to central-eastern europe, but i'm sure if everything goes well, we could setup this thing everywhere else

And of course, i'm interested in what you think ;)
