Will be there a Windows version of Resolve? I asked this question many times in
this forum, but got no answer. Windows users of Premiere like me, are eager to
know the answer. This is the the reply I got from Resolve help department:

"This is not a question we can answer, as BMD does not pre-announce product
plans. If you had asked this question about the Mac version a week before NAB, we
would have responded the same about that. "

As far as I know, Resolve was coded for Linux which would make it an easier port to the UNIX derived Mac OS and a far more difficult re-coding to Windows OS.

I think the larger concern is support. It is easier to make sure that the program runs smoothly when the platform is severely restricted and obsessively controlled. As it is, Black Magic was saying at their booth that it is comfortable certifying only a very specifically built Mac - CPU, RAM, specific graphics cards and particular hard drive setup.

The fear would be that any release for Windows (or even allowing the Linux version out the door without the hardware) would open them up to needing a 200 seat call centre to handle the support.

The only way I see Resolve on Windows is if they sold it installed on their hardware but seeing as how almost everyone who wants to run Resolve will have to buy a new Mac to do so, the actual price tag would probably be pretty close.

So for those wanting to buy the $1,000 Resolve, you'll want to add about $5,000 to the price tag for the Mac to run it on... and then about that again to get an entry level monitor. That >$11,000 is still a world better than the >$200,000 you were looking at a year ago.
