Last week at the BIRTV exhibition here in Beijing I saw the Cavision Eye Viewfinder mounting option for the first time and I thought it looked very compact and simple solution. Now that I am trying to find it on internet I can't find it anywhere.

Does anybody know where to find this Eye Viewfinder mount from Cavision? Or anything like it would be fine too. I just want to find a better alternative than the current Fiewfinder arm we got from RED.

I just came upon Cavision EVF mount, here : http://www.cavision.com/rods/RedVFc.htm
I never heard about it, when doing a search here on Reduser, I came upon the above post

Pics of a complete setup, see below, show a slightly different design with rosettes on both ends, probably a prototype.

Anybody seen one of these in the flesh, or have an idea of the pricing ?

Cheers,
Damien

look very interesting..anybody has experience with this piece ?

I dont have experience with this particular piece,
but i do have experience with Cavision gear, specifically the rod adaptors and pistol grips, and i will tell you now, they are designed very well, unfortunately their materials are utter crap and cheap.

The rossets they use are not standard and feel like they are made of tin.
Plus their tolerances are not very good.

The ideas are there they just are not executed very well.. i would love for them to step up their game.

unless they have changed their manufacturing

I agree 100%. I've bought a couple of Cavision products (for my HVX200) and the materials and specs on the parts are just not up to par. I would never buy their products for my RED.

I own a Cavision bellows matte-box and rods/handles set up for a PD-150.
The matte-box has been a never ending source of grief.
Screws tend to let go of threads for no apparent reason (discovered later that capscrews of the wrong length were used, but threads were already damaged by the time I'd figured it out).

This concepts are OK, and the design could work.....but Cavision products lack craftsmanship and quality control.

I've got one of these Cavision EVF mounts and I've got to say that it's possibly the best value Red One accessory on the market. It's best points are
1 - it's very light weight,
2 - the closeness of the EVF to the camera body,
3 - it's very adustable
4 - the unbeatable price.

It's a best solution for handheld, in my opinion, for the first two reasons, regardless of price.
Everyone that's seen mine likes it.

The only issue I had with it is that mine didn't come with a decent adjusting solution at the EVF end - just a 3/8 hex bolt. Cavasion needs to fix this.
I use a knarled knob that works fine. (see pic)

The pic below is flopped (shot with photo booth)

Highly recommended!!

How much did it end up costing you and where did you get it? Hopefully from someone in oz.
