Production Company: 8 Figure Productions
Director: Jarvis Alston
Locations: Various locations near Gladstone region and in Brisbane.
Shoot Dates: 24[SUP]th[/SUP] October – 9[SUP]th[/SUP] November
Compensation: Copy of the movie. Name listed in credits. Will be fed on the days.
Feature length film. The story is set in modern day Australia, and a prohibition has just been put into effect. Our main character Chuck has been a whisky distiller his whole life. After getting caught making illegal whisky and associating with some rough gangs he is given the option to finger them in court and in return he will be let off and put into witness relocation. He chooses this option and moves to a small town where he works hard to redeem himself to win back his girlfriend that has abandoned him.
A take on the spaghetti westerns of the 70s but with a modern twist. A story about a vigilante with his heart set on redemption.
The finished movie will be entered into the Cannes Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Toronto Film Festival and Melbourne Film Festival. There will also be more festival entries as well. There will also be an unofficial “premiere” at Gladstone Cinemas and you will be free to invite your friends and family.
The shoot will be done on RED Scarlet camera and cinema grade sound recording devices.
Characters
Janneli: Late 20s to early 30s. Fast talking detective. Very switched on. Doesn’t take any BS and is always straight to the point. Doesn’t hold back. A toned down version of Mark Wahlberg’s character in “The Departed”.
Cindy: Mid 20s. Girlfriend of the lead. Gorgeous. Has had her heart broken time and time again but stays strong because she respects herself. She’s very understanding and only asks that people try their best. Very lovable and affectionate. The type of girl you would call “marriage material”.
Dave: Mid 20s. Bartender. Loves his job. You can expect he always plays therapist to the working man and he’s good at it. Since the prohibition has been put in effect he has been trying his best to adapt to the situation. Very likable down to earth guy. Someone you would be happy to have a cold beer with.
Sarge: Early 30s. The small towns only police officer. Extremely laid back in his duties of enforcing the law. Although he definitely has good morals and stays true to them. Doesn’t believe in the prohibition because all it has done is increase the production of moonshine. He has that small town charm and would go out of his way to help a stranger in need.
Vorah: Mid 30s. The villain. Growing up with alcoholic parents in a poverty stricken part of the world, it’s not hard to see why Vorah turned out the way he did. He’s got a Wall Street attitude. Looks at the earning potential in every situation, even criminal situations. He dress well. When he talks he has the demeanour of a business manager, only the business is murder, guns, drugs, illegal alcohol. Anything people are willing to pay for, he is willing to provide.
Stacy: Late 20s. She is the manager and bartender of the local strip club. From her good looks it’s safe to say she has probably spent some time on that stage before. She’s a well mannered girl and likes to listen. It’s also getting to be that time of her life where she wants to settle down with a good man. Although she is more than capable of looking after herself, she would just like to have someone to depend on.
Lead Dancer: Early 20s. Stunning girl to look at. Is insanely good at her job. Never breaks character when she’s on stage working, even when dealing with difficult customers. She is the main dancer at the strip club. No nudity in this role but skimpy stripper attire will be required.
Strip Club Customers 1 and 2: Mid 20s to mid 30s. Like a sleazy, bad suit wearing tweedle-dee and tweedle-dum. Their fathers obviously didn’t teach them respect towards all women. Gutless when push comes to shove. Will act tough until the situation needs them to be tough.
Vorah Bandits 1 and 2: Early 20s to late 20s. Basic henchmen. Only know how to take orders. The kind of guys who would befriend the school bully so they wouldn’t get beat up themselves. Not that they are as bad as their boss, they just have no other options. They do the things they do because they fear their boss.
Bartender (Newsreader Scene): Mid 30s. Bored to hell with his job but still frustrated with the prohibition because it has affected the way he is used to living his life. Bitter at the government for enforcing the law but won’t do anything further than complain about it.
Newsreader: Female newsreader. No on-screen time but needed for the radio broadcast that sets the movie up.
Receptionist: Any age. Friendly, chirpy receptionist. Probably has much more ambition and talent but is happy doing her job and doing it well. She’s a people person. Very easy to get on with.
Drunks 1 and 2: In their 20s. Barflies. There is no way a law was going to stop these two from drinking. Full of Irish courage, but as soon as they need to act on the fight they’ve just started they’ll run for the hills. Very disrespectful and don’t realize a good deal when it’s staring them in the face.
Police Officers 1 and 2: Any age. They work with Janneli. They’re both climbing the ladder. Do their jobs professionally. No messing around and are very humble in their approach.
Hoodlums 1 and 2: Any age. Troublemakers. The only thing these two miss about the prohibition is not having a place to go to stir up trouble. Public nuisances.
