We will be shooting a feature film in Chihuahua, Mexico using the RED, 4K.

I need some advice (actually lots of advice).

I have never used the RED but my D.P. has used the camera many times.
We have schedule 28 days.
The look the director is looking for is similar to the one achieved in Baz Luhrmann's Australia.
This is a low budget project.

Recommendations:
What storage device should I used to store the video from the RAIDS?
How much storage will I need?
We will do daily back ups on LTO 3A.

Any recomentation on audio Mixer? Audio recorder?

Thanks.

We will roll tomorrow, the RED camera from Red Rental Mexico is on site, grip, lights, and talent are ready.

Here's a pic at one of the military check points on our way to Chihuahua. Notice the solder using my RED "Productor" Hat.

From Luis @ REDRENTASMEXICO

We use sonnet technologies Fusion F2's for on set backups (redundant, laptop powered drives). These come in a 2 500gb drives config. They will hold a little less than 250 min. -more than enough for a day's work.

At the night we dump the content to LTO3a tape (at least 2 copies) and firewire drives to have quick access to the data. This then could be transferred to QT which could be stored in a small raid array like caldigit's HDone.

The rule of thumb to calculate storage is that one minute of 4k@24fps uses 2gb of storage space, ie. One 8gb cf card holds 4 minutes of footage.
