  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Carrion - Shot on Red Raven 4.5k

Outstanding footage in low light congrats but can we also see consumer footage just to get a real feel of how it will shoot in real time. Slow motion always look good but a novice touch with the camera helps also.

Dear, raven footage hators,

Here are some examples of 2014-15 new camera first footage/official video links.

Well...

I want to buy a camera from a company, who knows what the camera is made for.

There is a ton of DSMC2 Dragon 4k footage at raven compressions floating around here. It will be the same as that.

It's weird to me that people need to see footage.. All i had to hear was a dragon sensor in a weapon style body for $6000.. takes no brains to make that purchase..Having said that, Red has changed the game once again for how companies will need to introduce their cameras to the world. sad part is, I don't think anyone will come close.

I will say, I enjoy Arri's stuff, but i never saw Arri cause so much ruckus, the release of the Raven must have many competitors scratching their heads. My advise: get in line asap

Just want to say THANK you for this video !!! I couldn't be more happy to have pre-ordered a raven a month ago ... now I have to say that waiting for this camera is more frustrating than waiting for the next season of game of thrones ^^ Once again Thank you !!

Beautiful. Didn't even need to see the footage to know how amazing this camera IS.. but it sure was great too. Feels like yesterday we all were staying up to pre-order. Now we're already nearing the new year!

and now waiting for the more "bits" surprise, side handle hopefully, and a way to order the v-mount i/o expander for us who only got the brain!

The short looks great but I cant' say this is a look I personally like.

This looks like a Vogue photoshoot came to life.

what was the export/upload setting for youtube?

Cheers! All of that being said is for you. They said the Scarlet was the same chip as the epic x but the footage is night and day. I need what I need and you need what you need but i can't see anything wrong with asking for footage of a camera that someone is selling. I also saw the 8k footage and it was great but low light and bright lights will tell you what the camera can handle for the job you are trying to do. i don't buy based on hype I buy based on facts and regular raw footage will tell a professional everything about the limits of the footage.

Aaron, we are actually going to be adding sample R3Ds from each of our camera/sensors in our LEARN section. Project is in the works as we speak...

Hey Brent, that's a great idea. I really wanted more examples when I was looking at cameras and had to dig through threads here on reduser.

They said the Scarlet was the same chip as the epic x but the footage is night and day.

That is not true. I mixed and matched Epic MX and Scarlet MX A LOT...and at the same setting...they were indistinguishable.

What you may be reacting to is simply 5K vs 4K. Or in case of slow-mo, 5K 48fps vs 3K 48fs.

But at the same settings, they were THE SAME.

Jarred indicated that Zeiss Milvus lenses were used for the Raven tests. Anybody familiar with these care to comment on the build quality and overall look of these lenses?

I'm looking to build a new set of glass for my Raven, but I'm a little indecisive at the moment. I'm not keen on the look of the Canon L's. And the Rokinons, while very cheap, leave much to be desired, in my opinion. Duclos can do a pretty good (and affordable) cine mod to add a gear, etc., so I'm leaning towards the Zeiss Milvus. Any thoughts, pros, cons? My price range is probably not more than $2500 per lens, which does rule out a great deal of decent lenses.
