Car Rig - permit needed?

[Arthur Woo]

Hey all - I'm wondering if I need a permit to use a camera rig on a car while driving - I'd imagine so. I'm in NYC - anyone have any tips or places I need to register for if this is the case?

Not sure if you need one, but if so, here is the place to start:

This is an interesting question. I'd also love to know the answer but I suspect it is not only dependent on your location, but even more highy dependent on the set-up (i.e. what you can "get away with"). Obviously. mounting a GoPro on the corner of your hood is unlikely to get attention or need a permit. On the other extreme, a full-on Alexa set-up with all the attendant grip gear in the middle of your hood might be a different story.
