I am glad to live in a country that is still free and capitalistic. We do things differently here. We invest our money in creating new businesses. We grow things here.

RED is a fine example of what makes this country great. A crazy nut has an insane idea and fortunately has the capital to give it a go. I am so glad he did because I continue to benefit from his largesse.

With the recent price reduction, I'm still thrilled because not only did I get to buy my very first 4K camera back in 2007, but the company then offered a ridiculous option on the next one. I took them up on that offer too.

Now they are resetting the clock and all can get an Epic for $19,000. How is this a bad idea in any world? I'm amazed at the self-righteous attitude displayed by some as if RED owes them an apology for not consulting them to see how they'd feel. Ludicrous.

You can get on board or leave the train anytime you so choose. But don't expect them to wait around until everyone has warm fuzzies because it'll never happen. They're going to do things the way they deem fit and that is their prerogative.

It's been a great ride thus far with some fantastic products. One thing is for sure, they are NOT standing still.

I guess you didn't get the memo?
Apparently, we don't built it and only the Government creates jobs:shocked:

Yes, I forgot. Hopefully Dear Leader will be looking for gainful employment soon.

You mean the roads, schools etc... is that not a good thing, that Jim & Co can concentrate on cameras and not the infrastructure?

Do you mean those rich bastards, like Jim, that need to pay a little more in taxes on the wealth they had made on the backs of the people?

WOOT! Jim made sunglasses, board shorts and other items that people wanted to buy! You make it sound like he's into slave trading or something. I guess if you ever run the risk of becoming successful at business you'd stop, forgive the potential to provide comfortably for your family, through fear of not wanting to be seen as a people oppressor? Sorry mate, but you're way off base with your assumption here.

Bitter and rude... Not to put you down but in all honesty you do color grading and he makes digital cinema cameras. (Amongst many other things)

Mark and Robino.
You need to look up the definition of the word facetious.
And while at it, please read the whole thread before jumping all over me.

Some people aren't reading very well, I'm afraid.

It is clear that Mr. Blackstone was supporting Jim (and, by extension, the precepts of capitalism) in his post above.

I have read the whole thread mate. Your comment makes no indication of brevity, at least to my Brit sense of humor that is. No worries.

You have a strange attitude toward how to build brand success and customer loyalty. Do you brazenly do whatever to hell you feel like doing with your own clients, without any regard to how that may make them feel or how it might impact their own business? Do they like it?

Yes, I forgot. Hopefully Dear Leader will be looking for gainful employment soon.

NO POLITICS is a Reduser rule - although your harsh contempt for all that is "warm and fuzzy" made your leanings abundantly clear.

OK, I'll take the bait. Hopefully, that lying etch-a-sketch dude will fade into the sunset in just a few days. Good riddance.

Mods, you should shut this thread down.

Hey, Jake started it!

I have no desire to start a political discussion here and I don't care what you think about my political views here in the good 'ol USA, especially if you live in Montreal!

Haha, don't drag me into this. I was just commenting on your post:001_wub:

Yeah, and I thought I was talking about RED being a good example of what is right with the country and capitalism. No idea how the "warm and fuzzy" comment was misconstrued into something political. And to answer the question posed, no, I do not typically find myself brazenly doing whatever the hell I like to my clients, without any regard for how it might make them feel or how it might impact their business. There are laws against such behavior.

And Mark has a pretty good sense of humor...but i've also seen him close to removing a human head with no tools required--i think has something to do with those ex military types and french legionaries that don't take too much shiiiit.

Wow, that derailed fast hahaha. For what its worth, Red provides a product and excellent service to back the product. We provide a service. comparing clients to customers is just misdirected. More likely a scenario would be whether you polled your potential audience regarding your short film and asking them what they would do differently, which would be a great way to get a crappy water downed film that appeals to no one. Red is a product, not a production company. They do not owe customers any more than we owe audiences.
