Does anyone know how many minutes of footage you would get with an 8GB flash card shooting in 3K, whether its on Scarlet or Red One??

Would that depend on frame rate?

If so at 24 fps, how many minutes for an 8GB card?

At 60fps?

At 120 fps?

I actually travelled into the future and shot with the Scarlet just for you along with 4K for comparison's sake:

8GB CF RED CARD
LENS CAP ON ~ NO MOTION, NO DETAIL

3k 2:1 - RedCode 28 8m23s
3k 2:1 - RedCode 36 6m39s
4k 2:1 - RedCode 28 4m43s
4k 2:1 - RedCode 36 4m10s

LENS CAP OFF ~ RECORDING HIGH MOTION DETAIL
3k 2:1 - RedCode 28 8m23s
3k 2:1 - RedCode 36 6m44s
4k 2:1 - RedCode 28 4m43s
4k 2:1 - RedCode 36 4m13s

Oh and while I was there in the future I found out who the next President will be. But I'm not telling until I get my own Scarlet. :spidy:

aha Karapetkof is now MacCarapetcof with kilt :sarcasm:

I guess that pointing Reds 84 and 85 at yourself in a 45 degree angle or something get you to time travel! Wow! That’s amazing!!!:w00t:

Hey folks

Quick question....does anyone know if the CF cards that RED uses (and presumably Scarlet) are standard off the shelf cards or are they some kind of special RED flavor in a CF package.

Thanks in advance

The current RED cards are (based on) the Lexar Professional 300x UDMA cards. From what myself and others have been reading here from RED, they have worked with Lexar and tweaked the card controller for REDCODE RAW and the CF controller used in the RED CF module. However, the regular 300X cards have been used by many without any problems when they need extra cards though it can be very expensive to use them if the prices are high. Usually you have to look around to find a good deal on those cards which currently go from $170 to around $300. In my opinion, the RED cards are a logical buy because of the price (which is stable at $199 unlike retail prices which go up and down with supply and such), they work, and RED backs the cards like they do all of their products. I don't know the particulars of their CF supply line with Lexar or how many they are willing to sell to one person at a time but if you are just buying the camera for your own use like I am, then it makes sense to pick up at least a few cards at the same time you order it.

Ok

That anwsers my question as I was sniffing around the net and found 32gb CF cards for $170, however they are only 150x so they are no good.
I appreciate the clarification.

Cheers

Is someone at Red developing 16gb CF-cards? I rather go with whats in house. If everything you use is Red then the support both in this forum and directly from Red is more smooth.
I'm gonna go as much Red as possible = Scarlet, 8x CF cards (4x if there's 16gb), Red Ray, necessary handles etc.

I was thinking the same thing...
