  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Can't get CS4 workflow to function

G5 is not Intel based, it is power PC chip based. That may be your problem. Only works with Intel based Macs or PC's

I agree with Steve and Leo, no need for inflammatory headlines.

I understand your frustration, but it's often pilot error.

Rest assured several hundred people (myself included) saw this working first hand at the Red-Adobe get-together at the Roosevelt a couple of weeks back. Best to stay calm and you'll land safely and be more quickly on your way.

As has been suggested, perhaps the trial version has a bug -- or hasn't been updated.

It Works Fine

It Works Fine

I've been using the workflow without any problems on an Intel Mac. While I'm not a fan of Premier as an editing environment, it does work as promised. The output from AE looks fantastic when properly graded.

It seems to be pretty bug free.

I think it's outrageous that RedUser is allowing inflammatorily titled posts that could damage the reputation of a company.

It's clearly unfair and someone, including RedUser, could very well find themselves making new friends with attorneys.

First off, I guess its not a G5 then, like I said, I think I just associate those computer cases with the term "G5".

Secondly, I already made a point of apologising for the title before your post. The frustration comes from watching all those demos, getting excited and then waiting for a 2GB demo and MB's of updates to download on our abismal censored internet service only to be disappointed.

If I knew how to change the title I would. I think it safe to say I think Adobe make great stuff. We use AE all the time, and I personally use photoshop every day, and have done for years.

Once again, no offence meant, just want to be able to suck those R3Ds into premiere!

On the mac side (I don't know for pc) you need to have the retail version to work with the red plugin.
I know what I'm saying.

I changed the thread title... hope everyone still finds the thread...

As for the RED plug-in not working with the demo version, I guess I didn't realize that. I searched back through the thread on the Adobe plug-in release and it seems that's the case. It and several other format or render plug-ins will not work when the app is in trial mode. Adobe doesn't allow you to run Encore in trial mode, either.

There never was a G5 from Intel…

Adobe cs4 retail version not importing r3d

Adobe cs4 retail version not importing r3d

Same problem here. I have Cs4 on Intel Quad core with Red plugin for cs4 intalled. I did file-> import-> and chose 2k 16:9 24fps. It only import the folder not the R3D files. Only after import you have to select the source settings and choose Half in the resoultion so Adobe can work on 1k online. For 4k the documentation says Quarter 1/4th of 4k.

Do we have to do some kind of prep work in RedCine for CS4 to read the R3d footage?

Note: MY ADOBE CS4 IS NOT A TRIAL VERSION. I RECEIVED YESTERDAY AND INSTALLED IT THE SAME DAY. NO SUCCESS HERE.

Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 loads the files and prompts a window File Import Failure
Error Message: File Video Dimensions (Width/height) too large.

It works for me. I just had to do Adobe updates. It started working. Also check out the video of DavTechtable its very very clear. Answers many questions.

Same problem for me. I have retail version CS4 PPro version 4.01 and AE 9.01 on a Mac Intel system, all latest updates. AE works with importing r3d files, but no luck getting PPro to work. ??? Anyone figure it out yet?

We tested it on an older Macbook Intel Duo with the test version downloaded from Adobe´s site and it works fine !

Going to check it with our 8 core MacPro next week. I´m really surprised to see it working without problems so far. 4K without any stupid transcoding !

I currently have a Macbook Pro 17 that is two years old. It has 2GB of ram. I got AE CS4 using r3d, but not PPro CS4 all the latest versions. Always an error message File format not supported. I even tried reinstalling PPro and the REd plugins.

Strange...but as I said, I didn´t expect it to work but it did. I read here the test version doesn´t work with the 4K files and almost abandoned the idea of testing it...If I find out more, I´ll let you know

yes. i have tried 512 and 1k setups. i followed the video tutorial posted here
