Well there I was getting tired of waiting for the 7D to release and proliferate, decided a T1i wouldn't be a bad idea to practice on. I decided to try shooting a music video with it today... YIKES!
But wait... It's actually not bad!
PITA to get what I need, but... that's life right.

just a quick edit of a couple clips

why the name?
this should be known as reduser's canon forum

is this 20fps? That looks surprisingly good! Are you sure youre talking about Trae ft Lynzie Kent ?

it's 720-30p, like I said on DVXUser, 20p is not video, it's just a really fast 2megapixel still camera :)
EDIT: the music was played back at 125% and the clips were edited on a 24p timeline at 80% so it has a very slight overcrack

Yeah that's the one. That's why I posted the short clip cause it shocked me LOL. I literaly bought this camera to get used to the form factor while I waited for the 7D

I'm not a movie historian but if I recall correctly 16fps was the original movie standard and 24fps came about to allow decent quality sound encoding along the side of the movie film.

If you want to say that 20fps never was a video STANDARD then neither was 24P. These days with computer playback of many different frame rates in Quicktime and other media players it isn't as critical.

I'm not saying that 20fps is a good thing, just that it may not be such a bad thing.

I'm a REDONE owner but I've also really enjoyed playing with my t1i for the past couple months - 15mp stills and video. For $700 it's a no brainer since I have the lenses for my REDONE birger setup.

It was just a joke :)
taking a shot at Canon for what DEFINITLY IS NOT a standard

I understand. Canon market segmented the camera with that funky 1080P rate AND the lack of a microphone input (it has an onboard mic - is there a hack for attaching another mic?) but that's how they can sell it for $700 and not eat into their other products. It's still a great deal.

Only hack I could think of would be ripping out the leads to the built in electret condensor and putting a jack on it. But I don't need onboard audio that bad. I just hope the AGC gets hacked on the 7D. I don't look forward to 2 system audio :( It's not that big a deal but just something else that I don't want to have to do. Hopefully Canon will put out a real deal APS-C video camera sooner than later.
