Canon seems to be moving so quickly these days that it's become very entertaining to read canonrumors.com every day...

The latest is that in the 1D line there will be a new processor with a video section lovingly baked in for better performance, and hopefully erasing any visible moire issues... baby steps but still nice...

Obtaining any sort of RAW video images from these cameras still seems like a distant dream, though.

One thing I took away from that post is that, according to this guy, Canon has a new cine line of cameras for 2010. These presumably would be large sensor, but in a video body instead of DSLR. That timeframe seems logical. RAW seems inevitable, at least as an external option.

I recently worked on a corporate video for Canon here in Canada in the last month (shot on a mark2, actually - side note, we were the vendors, I don't work for Canon),
And during the shoot we were talking to the marketing rep, and he was saying that Canon was actually ready to release the cine/hybrid camera in '09, but thought it not a proper move due to the economy. So I imagine from that there are some great prototypes in the lab, pretty much ready to go...
Just an FYI for any folks who haven't heard that particular bit of knowledge...

It's definitely become a lot of fun lately to keep Canon Rumors on your bookmarks tab. I'm taking this post with a grain of salt, but defintiely get the feeling that the culture at Canon has woken up to the cinema market, and is interested in it.

It certainly seems likely that going forward Canon will be designing its chips with video in mind: with Digic V on the horizon, lots of exciting things could happen.

I also don't think that any really exciting Scarlet-killer type camera is going to emerge until some of Canon's front-runner competitors catch up with the video game. Where is Nikon in this race?
