I saw this video: http://www.vimeo.com/22559149 with Mitch talking about the new Canon PL Mount zooms, something I never knew even existed.

14.5-60mm T2.6 and
30-300mm T2.9 to something

Mitch mentions on his site they are in the $45-50K range.

Are they shipping yet?
Anyone had a chance to test them?

looked at it at NAB and it is a great lens, yet I know few lenses back from 70's where you got close to the same performance/speed, better range and aprox. same size.
Makes me wonder...
at the same time back in 70's man walking on the moon was almost an every day thing; today we can barely keep man on our orbit (ref.to ISA:)

No lens from the 70s ever matched the performance of these lenses.

Are they shipping Mitch?

Where would you place them in the Zoom lens hierarchy?
Top Fujinons/Top Angenieux
Canon
DP Angenieux/Alura's

?

I got to play and check them out a bit, nice zooms, not in the same league as Optimos or the high end Fujinons. Probably on par with the Aluras and Angie HR series, but a good range and plenty sharp.
I'd be curious to get one on a show and see how it holds up over 12+ weeks of abuse. We almost always have at least one Optimo go down per show.

The Canon lenses are not going to ship before the new year. They are excellent glass, but I'm not going to rank them, because that would be unfair to the others and, well, we represent them all! I have my opinion on these and other lenses, and let me just say that it's a really good time in the optics world!

The Canons are in the $50K range, IIRC. They are a great deal for that price.
