These are B4 mount lenses for HD production. There will be B4 mount for Red but you will be liimited to 2K resolution. The 35mm conversion if for reference.

Thanks! Evin.
But I have heard that there are PL/MT Canon lenses for 35mm.
Is that true?

Andrew,

Just so you don't get fooled again, all cine mount lenses be they for a Mitchell, Panavision, Arriflex or CP-65 camera that have lens mounts that look like that have four ears.

And what is this Optex/Canon lenses, looks like it is PL mount?

Are there any PL mount zoom lenses with autofocus build in that doesn't require interaction with the cameara?

No auto focus in PL. Anywhere.

The century/optex is a rehoused Canon EOS lens, no electronics, and frankly not nearly as good optics as the Nikon.

Evin, I read all your posts so far and I still can't make my mind what is the best PL mount zoom lens, if money is not a big concern?

Aren't B4 lenses limited to 1080p RGB ?

Cheers,
Damien

The new lightweight zoom from Arri/Zeiss looks pretty sweet :

Click on "New Products" then LIGHTWEIGHT ZOOM LWZ-1

Dont' know the price though.

Cheers,
Damien

That sure is a pretty looking lens there.

Love the close focus spec. Does away with having to use diopters when you don't have the time to set up a proper macro shot. Keep in mind that it only covers ANSI S-35 (.980" x .736") which might limit it's use in some applications.

"LIGHTWEIGHT ZOOM LWZ-1"

may 06 list price 36,000 euro's = approx 45-50K us $

How the lens knows that we are shooting RGB?:)

I think the only limitation of this B4 lenses is 2/3 size of illumination circle? so good for 16mm CMOS area (2K)
I like this side lens control where you could put your hand in to it.
And price is 1/2 of Arri lenses for the same job?

Evin, what if we rent you these lenses for few days for evaluation, do we have B4 to Nikon adapter?
(so you can plug it in to your Nikon)

Canon PL mount conversion lenses from Century Schneider

Canon PL mount conversion lenses from Century Schneider

century/schneideroptics make pl mount conversion lenses from Canon 35mm SLR lenses (as well as some other lenses) Not supercheap - i.e. $3500 - $15000. Here's a link:

I'm a century dealer but have mostly sold their converters for the HDV and HVX200 camcorders.

B4 lenses for cine

B4 lenses for cine

There are two issues with B4 lenses - one they are designed to cover the 11mm diagonal of a 2/3" chip (the chips aren't anything like 2/3" that goes back to the image size of the tubes which were 2/3" diameter but the light sensitive portion was 11mm diagonal), second the B4 lenses are designed to pass through a prism optical beam splitter before it reaches one of the three chips so it is a much longer effective optical distance to the chip.

I have read somewhere that there is an adapter made (for about $3500) that dealt with both issues - I looked at it online and it seemed that they were claiming it could be used on 35mm cinema.
