  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Canon patents touchscreen focus pulling?

If you read the article the patent is not on touch screen DSLR's or camera controls (it specifically says it would be too hard to patent that) but rather regarding touch controls that won't be affected when put up against your face - which isn't a feature Red has to worry about.

Don't forget that the iPhone 3GS has touch screen focusing.

yeah, and the iPhone touch features are also disabled when held up to the face

Thanks for the link to clear things up - so no focus pulling then - still reads like a troll patent - everything in there is just a software interface (except for the cheek disabling part) - I am still amazed of what one can patent. Its like "I patent that people can push on a button with a touchscreen (duh)"

Doesn´t really matter if the button says "focus" or "iris" - same goes for "sliding motion (horizontal/vertical who cares) to adjust ISO/Shutter"... its a sliding motion there is a software function that gets triggered where is the freaking big deal? - but then again amazon holds the one click patent - so nothing is impossible.
