Thanks,

I am hopping your suggestion ASAP.
Thanks

Leitax makes one.

Rokinon lenses are ok for the price. Some of them perform better than others. The 35mm and 85mm seem to be the best of the bunch. I haven't used the 16mm but I've used or owned all the others.

I own and use Samyang/Rokinon VDSLRs 16/2.2 24/1.5 35/1.5 85/1.5. Absolutely awesome set for it's price. I managed to match the lenses in my set quite good. None of the Samyangs I've tested were bad actually. Some had issues with rings smoothness but that was really the first ones on the market.

For R1MX I guess, 16mm would be helpful. Especially shooting 2K slow-motion. But they all are quite good on R1.

I would recommend you to go for Nikon mount, the one made by RED. But there are other options available on the market.

Thanks, Brian and Serge, how I can get EF mount for Red MX?

Nope. There is no point to adjust BF each time. It comes into account if you use zoom lenses much. Even if it's slightly off, you most likely won't note it with primes, only if you use measuring tape and dial exact numbers on a barrel. But if you up to zooming out from a CU to W, you may loose focus if BF isn't right. For my R1 I tune it with PL zoom lens and Siemens star chart. But that's my habit from a broadcast world. RED focus solution is better and faster.

I just leave the back focus a tiny bit beyond infinity on my Leitax mount - that way I can be sure that I never run into a situation where I can't get to infinity in case there's a slight discrepancy with different adapters and lenses (my set is quite a mixed one). Not really a problem as long as you know you can't just jam the lens to the stop for infinity.

But yes, no need to BF every time. I've set mine once when installing the mount and never touched it since...

The one thing to be aware of is that at least on the previous version of the mount the back focus basically locks into place with another ring screwing onto it, and the tiny hex screw doesn't really lock it per se. So when mounting a lens, you don't want to jam the lens locking ring crazy tight as otherwise you may find the whole mount starting to unscrew when you want to remove the lens. Finger tight is fine and the lens is still very solid. All in all a very well engineered product though.

How do you change aperture/iris on the Leitax - is it Canon FD or Canon EF?

Hay guys, Thanks for Link and suggestions.

How do you change aperture/iris on the Leitax - is it Canon FD or Canon EF?

Canon EF, but it's a cold mount with no electronic aperture control like on the Birger or the Epic/Scarlet EF mount. So unfortunately modern Canon stills lenses are not really a practical option. However there are plenty of other lenses with manual iris control that are either available in EF or can be used with an adaptor - I have M42, Contax Zeiss and Olympus OM glass as well as one of the Samyang EF-mount manual cine lenses in my set.

Used Birgers show up here from time to time. You will absolutely need the Impero lens controller though. Make sure you buy both.

We have the Birger system and love it. Just wish those Canon EF lenses didn't have stepper motors for the aperture.
