Is it safe to assume the Canon Mount option that RED provides will have focus and iris control? If it didn't, what would be the point?

I see Birger Mounts and other mounts (http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=17454&highlight=canon+mount) being made that are Canon glass acceptable, with cool wireless focus pull/iris control. In comparison with cine lenses, pulling focus on still glass effectively is nigh impossible. Does anyone know if these other options allow you to increase, decrease the focus sensitivity so you have more control over a still lens focus pull?

Also, the Redmote coming out, is this wireless focus/iris control its purpose? Or is it just for starting, stopping, fps, iso, etc from up to 100 feet away?

I don't remember the thread, but Jim commented that it would be impractical and unethical for them to reverse engineer and program Canon or Nikon electronic lens controls. Aftermarket lens manufacturers match their lenses to the camera maker's protocols, but no camera maker supports another manufacturer's lens protocols.

I was about to type what David said.

And he also seemed a little incredulous that we would expect it.

But hey, as long as there's a third party doing it, I'm happy. Now if we could just get one for Nikon!

Last post I found from Jim on the matter was 'wait and see'.

But I don't understand how one would use a Canon mount on a Scarlet if they didn't have some sort of iris/focus control. How else would you control the iris on Canon still glass?

No doubt Birger will figure out an adaptor piece for the Canon Mount as it stands today, so one can swap it over to the Scarlet/Epic once those come out.
