Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this, but I was just hoping that there might be a remote chance of this helping my cause.

My set of Canon K35 lenses were stolen last week in Tooting, London. If anyone happens to stumble upon a set, I'd be eternally grateful if you could notify me, either by PM or at info at ianroderickgray dot com.

The lenses are:
Set of 5 Canon K-35 Prime Lenses Re-mounted in PL
18mm s/n # 12049
24mm s/n # 80005
35mm s/n # 81030
55mm s/n # 77030
85mm s/n # 81032
Supplied with front & rear caps and contained in a square, silver metal hard box.

I bought all of them (With the exception of the 55 which I found on ebay) from Tony Covell last year and they've been absolutely fantastic, so I'm pretty devastated about this.

Realistically, I can't see them being located anytime soon as I have a feeling they have been taken by a chance who has has no idea what he's nabbed. Still, worth a shot.

Many thanks and apologies if this is the wrong place to post this.

Ian

Poor guy. I am so sorry for you.
That's an awful thing to happen with those lenses.
Stay on top of craigslist.

Thanks guys. It does indeed blow. I hadn't even considered Craiglist to be honest, good call, I'll check it out.

Replacing the lenses is going to be near impossible, but what makes it even more frustrating is that insurance might not pay out.

Man, it's one of those weeks where you begin to consider another profession! I've heard accountancy pays well...

Frustratingly (And stupidly) I only have pictures of the 55 before True Lens converted it to PL mount and the 18mm after it got dented on a rental.

You can kind of see the box that the lenses were kept in on the 18mm shot, but to be honest I don't have anything super clean. On hindsight I can't believe I didn't take any proper pictures of them.

Well that dent is a very telling earmark on that lens now.... serial numbers can be scratched off... but that dent still identifies the lens.

See if anyone has taken pictures of you on set. You may find a few with the lenses in them.

Very good point! I was pretty furious about the dent at the time, but I suppose I can take some positives from that little incident at least!

Clayton, that's true. I've found a few production stills of the lenses on the MX and although they're not the clearest images, it may still help. Big thanks for suggestions guys.

Horrible.

I'll keep my eyes open my friend.

Keep an eye on Craigslist or any other selling sites in the UK.

Sorry to hear of the theft.

George

Many thanks George, that's greatly appreciated.

Keep an eye out on TV-Bay, ebay uk, mandy.com

Thanks Tommaso, I'll definitely do that. I have a feeling they've probably been sold for peanuts at a local pawn shop, but hopefully they'll turn up at some point!

So sorry to hear of your loss Ian. That sucks massively. I live just down the road, so will keep a look out for them for you in any local stores, although I fear that might be wishful thinking. Will keep an eye out generally also on the kit websites.

Best of luck in the hunt for them.

Adam

Ian,
check out kitmondo.com and bblist too!!!!!

BBList is unlikely as it's moderated, operates an Escrow payment service, and demands full name, address and bank details for payment.

Yeah it's moderated, but they don't know the serials of the lenses, and the escrow prevent scams, not the sale of stolen goods with payment to a temp bank account with a stolen/fake identity or a debit card with IBAN.
They have the lenses and they can ship 'em, so in the eyes of bblist it would NOT trigger any alerts.

True, BBList isn't immune from stolen goods, but most thieves just want to move the goods as fast and as easily as possible. BBList adds more hurdles than many other sale sites.

Anyway it's always up to buyers to check out kit they are buying including serial numbers, and seller contact details/internet history if applicable.

I'll keep and eye out.
