Its great to have it on while using the shoulderrig but I guess you should turn it off before any panning. Is it possible to switch it on and of with a camera button? The button on the canon lens itself is not so practical to reach as some other buttons. For tripods its turned off for sure (put it in here so the thread not drift to using tripods, cranes instead of shoulderig)

The Canon optical IS is a function built into Canon lenses, controlled by a physical latching lens switch, so it's likely there won't be a software control of this built into the lens firmware.

I suppose Red could theoretically programme a camera button to switch off the power to the lens which would accomplish the same thing, but then you'd lose control of all the other functions, plus lose lens data, and it would be a clumsy bodge, so again this is unlikely to be implemented.

Its not a biggie but would have been nice to be able to move the function to another more user friendly button. Never liked the "slide buttons" on the lens. I did not think of losing the lens data. Thanks for your reply.
