Also, with respect to that particular image, the purpose was to demonstrate the autofocus compatibility with EF lenses.

Well, that's not all they use. I know I've seen the RED lenses and a Leica as well.

But EF glass has a number of features that make it desirable:
- Low Cost
- Relatively good optical quality
- Small size
- Light weight
- Low rental cost
- Low(er) repair cost
- Stick it easily on a 5D or 7D and, presto, a DSLR!

Those who can't afford to shoot regularly on Cooke or Zeiss or even RED lenses look upon Canon and Nikon lenses as the next best thing.

Well the tiger still was shot with a Canon 70-200 2.8 II... and that lens is sickeningly sharp.

I would think the EF lenses would cover Epic 5K no problem...they are, after all, designed for FF35. The EF-S lenses, perhaps not so much, since they are for APS-C.

I think that 70-200 2.8 II is going to prove extremely popular with Epic shooters.

Ok. Gotchya. Lenses are my weakness...I need to make them my stronger point though I realize.

Sadly, I know way more than I should about stills glass. And not nearly enough about half-decent cinema glass. Cest la vie...they can still make some pretty pictures.

i love my 70-200 II
very very sharp
and minimum focus at 1.2m is so sweet
a must have

@Raphael, others...

What do you think of using a Canon L 2X converter on that 70-200II? I am looking at replacing my Bigma, and the Canon combo would make for a sharp/fast alternative (with a lot more $$)

Sorry if i am stealing the thread. tell me and I will start another...

70-200II

70-200II

Works great and the IS is still totally bad ass. you end up with a 140-400 5.6. crazy good for the price. I try to slip it in to the mix whenever I can while shooting (i have all the L series lenses now 24 1.4 35 1.4 50 1.2 85 1.2 and the 3 zooms. There are tradeoffs but they can yield fantastic results. they're sharper than super speeds at the same stop.)

There's also one canon lens you should probably look after, it's the 100mm macro 2.8 L is USM. It's one of the best lenses I've ever used. It's perfect for portraits and macro stills, and I feel really excited to see the results on Epic-S ! :emote_hippie:

Peace ;)

By the way, perfect canon set for me would be:
8-15mm L 2.8
16-35mm L II USM
50mm 1.2 L USM
85mm 1.2 L USM
100mm Macro L USM
+ maybe a 24-70 or 24-105 for everyday zoom use

My nikon set would be:
10.5mm dx fisheye
16mm 2.8
24mm 1.4
35mm 1.4
50mm 1.4
85mm 1.4
and a 105mm macro
+ zoom choice = 24-70 or 18-55 dx

There are Plenty of wonderful still lenses outhere that could be used !
