Did some searching but most of the threads are from 2012.

After seeing this DP's recent work with the canon primes i've been very impressed with these. https://www.instagram.com/bjorn_amundsen_dp/

What's the consensus on these lenses? Any other new competitors in this price range? Worth it to jump to the next level of ultra primes?

Canon is having a deal and they're selling a 4 lens set for 11,500 USD taxes included which is very tempting.

Yves,

I did a series of tests before buying a set a few years ago now. Its on the ACS Website I have run them for many years now with no hassle. Mechanically they are good and fit into any professional set up.

They give a nice modern look. You could argue their a bit short on character but thats a charge you could level at most modern glass. Once you near wide open CA begins to creep in but its only visible when pixel peeping. When WFO especially the T1.2 35 and 50mm take on quite a creamy look which I love. Sort of opposite to the more "brittle" look of the CP2 equivalents.

Lots of good well priced glass around at the moment but if you can get a good deal then you can't go wrong.

Some people don't like not having a PL mount but for a personal set of lenses I have never regretted going with EF as I don't care how glass sticks to the camera as long as it is solid and doesn't fall off.

They are sharp and fast and totally functional, but I'm not a huge fan because they lack any semblance of character, unless shot WFO.

They are also overpriced, and have some weird focal length/aperture choices.

However, as a daily workhorse set, especially if you got a good deal lined up, they are probably top 3.

I own these and think they're dynamite, never have any issues from them and think they have way more character than people give them credit for.
The 24mm isn't the sharpest lens I've ever seen but definitely think they're sharper than the Sony Cine Altas and lighter too.
The CA is there but only certain conditions make that an issue and from what I've seen they outperform other lenses in its class on the CA front.

Check out my website, pretty much everything on there was shot on Canon Cne Primes. www.davidellisonfilms.com
