  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Basically every sensor is higher resolution than the recording unless it is RAW. It is a compressed format for sure and other cameras like the Sony f3 has a much higher K rating before recording compression. I'm sure it is a great camera, and yes it has compression, but also has SD HDI out, but not dual link. So it will not be that compressed out of the SDI as it will internally to cards.

I’m sure a lot of people are going to like the Canon for this and that..but I don’t really get the feeling in my bones that this is something that they are going to be able to follow through on (technologically) unless they dramatically revise their capture and processing architecture. I don’t see that happening so a far as I can see that the capability appears “stuck” as a sort of standard of its own.

Maybe it’s not so bad/or quite handy for run and gun documentary work that would look really fine for broadcast?

It was interesting that Scrosese referred to it as a video camera and Canon calls it Cinema EOS system.

Did they mention synch and S-3d?
 
Looks kind of like an Epic. I'm sure Jim and Co. are gnashing teeth at that.

Still, 1080p for $16k? If I'm dropping that much $ I'll wait for Epic-S thank you.

WTF is up with this stupid idea that we want these eye pieces on the back of these cameras anymore. Who doesn't want an EVF or pro option. How can a 16,000 camera have a cheap eyepiece on the back, just like the F3. I'd like to rip those off and the design would look much more professional.
 
Why is there a moderator at the announcement... is this a presidential debate?
