  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Canon C300 Announcement...

Quote from the event: 'Mr. Maeda knew that video would be a great feature on the 5D Mark II, but he had to "light a fire under the R&D department" to get it done.'

Interesting. The way I heard the story was different: the EOS guys threw in the feature thinking nothing of it, then the video guys flipped their shit after seeing a demo & the C300 is the video-departments way of catching up to the EOS team... not fast enough.

Problem is for like 3 years RED has been claiming a price point at around $6000 or the fixed lens scarlet. I mean only a few months ago like April or May I remember seeing Ted on Youtube.com stating the price point. They knew the demand then, knew the audience and hopefully have not have led on that many people into something they can't afford.

While I understand where you're coming from - I've always taken the opinion that the price will be what the price will be. If I can't afford it, then sucks to be me :( but then, I can create a long list of things that I can't afford. That's life :)

I think that Red have shown remarkable good value for money, quality build, continued support in firmware updates etc. Hard to put a price on that

EF mount version delivers 4k? I am getting confused.

EXACTLY!!! Thank you.

heh. talk to joe pytka........this whole thing was shot on 7d and sets are all green screen. and shit looks clean on hdtv. post guys said it did really well w/ the key..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnABZM83hqg

Oh yeah, you can get good keys from the 7D. It requires a helluva lot more effort than the 234 shots I'm comping right now from the R1mx and Epic. I've done both. IMHO, I don't want to go back. I can get really good keys from 16mm Vision 3 stock as well, doesn't mean i'd WANT to do it :)

Awesome!

Fast primes though

24mm T1.5
50mm T1.3
85mm T1.3

Hope they're priced nicely!

Why no 16/18mm and 35mm though for the full set?

Paul

These lenses look nice but the PL nount versions are speculated to be in the $60,000 range for their top end zooms
We know the prices soon. Speculations are useless.

4K on the sensor. Downscaled to 1080p and compressed to mpeg 2 4:2:2 at 50 mbps if what I'm hearing is to be believed.

4k?

"7:38PM The C300 can handle both EF and PL mount lenses, has a Super 35mm CMOS sensor, and delivers 4K resolution with the new EF lenses."

It has been speculated that there are 2 versions the C300 and the C300PL (obviously this cam has a pl mount). If the one camera can use both options, I'm freaking excited.
