Recently got 2 Canon BP975 batteries - on the Komodo it shows that both are draining at the same percentage at the same time - instead of first one depletingthen the other - any ideas? I.E. - both at 2hr 15remaining, 1hr 53min remaining etc... at the same time)

Have you checked the battery LEDs?

Yes, the one on the left shows 3 dots while the one on the right still shows 4 - so it may not actually be draining power from the right side.

My concern is that the Komodo will think the 2nd battery is drained (even if it's not) - and will shut off.

Ok - so as a test I started the camera recording with both Canon batteries in place, again, it shows draining both, I pulled the 2nd battery and put in a generic (hedbox 975). Camera still ran but of course shows ? for 2nd battery slot. I then pulled the 1st slot Canon battery - Komodo died.

Just started camera with the hedbox in slot A, Canon in slot B - it shows ? for both batteries, and when I pull the hedbox out of slot A, and put a Canon battery in, it goes back to showing both at same percentage. Then pulling the canon out of the 2nd slot and putting the hedbox back in, still shows same percentage and doesn't mention "unapproved battery" message.

So obviously something very funky with the battery situation. I've used the hedbox batteries for months with no problems, swapping while camera on etc.....Kind of regret spending $400 on two Canon batteries if it's not going to work right.

Can confirm that after the battery in slot 1 ran out, it didn't switch to the full battery in slot 2, instead the camera shut down. If I start a full battery in slot 1 it works fine, if I start the camera with that same battery in slot 2 it tells me its an unapproved battery.

In a nutshell, I think my 2nd slot stopped reading charge levels correctly as well as the ability to have slot 1 die and automatically switch to slot 2. Going to message RED.

UPDATE: With my hebox975 batteries and even cheap kastar batteries, there's no issue with swapping, and when battery slot 1 dies, it goes straight to slot 2. The canon 975's are only ones having an issues - am going to send back.

Do you have any update? I’m experiencing the same thing, with the same batteries, while overseas in Paris and I’d rather not send my camera in from Europe.

Camera shuts off if battery 1 dies, but doesn’t switch to battery 2. If I take battery 1 out and start the camera, it starts up from battery 2, but shows an unapproved message and a question mark.

I also usually run the camera with the core swx v mount plate.

Yeah, I never got them to work right. Was pretty ticked about it. I ended up just buying 8 hebox975 batteries. It forces me to keep an eye on the battery indicator (showing it's using battery slot 1 or 2) but the hebox975 batteries last so long that I've never had a problem yet. Typically the batteries last around 2.5-3hrs each.

I'd love it if the Canon batteries worked like they are supposed to, but I just didn't have time for that mess, and the hebox975 worked so great, and are so cheap by comparison it was a no brainer for me.
