  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

How well does it work in other conditions besides low light?

Do you see it as being able to be used during a shot or just for pre focusing before rolling ?
 
Christopher, you shouldn't have started this thread. Now, you'll need to answer a lot of questions... :-)

Christopher, I got my mount yesterday!! just need to get my EPIC back from a rental! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
 
The focus settings are now:

Manual
Confirm
Single
Continuous
Touch Track
Rack

I haven't had time to play much with the last two yet, but they are pretty exciting. Touch track... you guessed it... places focus at the point you touch on screen ala iPhone Camera. At this release I don't think that you'll be doing focus pulling with it, but works nicely for pre-focusing.

Crap... we gotta get ready for a Thanksgiving of about 25 people here at the house and all I wanna do is play with my Epic!
 
Thanks for the intel! Awesome news. I just spent a few hrs @ Off Hollywood in NYC investigating gear for a job - racking my mind over the focus options - thinking touch autofocus would be really fun to play with!
 
Sorry if this is really obvious but I just want to be sure.

Would the continuous autofocus on the Epics/Scarlet with the canon mount and firmware, be like the autofocus on say a HVX or XF? Because thats what I think of when I hear continuous autofocus.

Have you tested how well it works?

I saw that in a video RED posted. So I know its coming, I think thats what the Rack option is. But I could be wrong on that.
