This is a great cinema verité lens in excellent condition. All glass is clean and all rings turn smoothly. Includes simple clip on shade for 4x4 filters. With the smaller pixels on the Helium 8K sensor, this lens brings the versatility and high frame rates of 3K Super 16 to your Weapon.
I purchased this lens from Abel Cine Tech in New York in 2001 for $10,000, plus the trade in of my Cooke 10.4-52 lens. I don't remember if the lens was brand new or very slightly used, but is was in new condition. I have been the only owner of the lens since then and the lens has been very lightly used, while in my possession. I bought it for verite shooting on a National Geographic Special I was doing called The Last Royals, about monarchy around the world. I used it on shoots in Uganda, Nepal and the UK, but by the time the the production was finished in 2003, the world had switched to 24p video and my Aaton and this lens has sat in my equipment closet, virtually unused since then. It is very sharp, has a great range, and is a fantastic verite lens - the best I have ever used. It had an Aaton mount when I bought it, but I had Abel switch it to a PL mount in 2008 when I bought my Red One, but the Red was disappointing in 2K so I never used it. I used it briefly in 2015 on a Black Magic Pocket Cine Camera with PL adapter and it was great to handle again - for me it has perfect focus and zoom ergonomics in the hand. I have kept it all these years because I really love it, but am not using it enough have have other expenses to deal with, so it's time to let it go.
