  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

...but I didn't care. I only saw those things because I went back and looked for them with a lot of pauses to study the image. That was my 'technical viewing' to gain knowledge about the camera hardware, but none of it disturbed me the first time when I was watching the subject matter instead of the camera performance.

Of course, as we have discussed before, most people will will watch anything as long as the content of the image is interesting and emotionally engaging. And I appreciate that we are seeing a selection of especially good shots for that exact purpose.

But overall the camera is delivering very well...we can easily imagine how much work it is to shoot in such conditions, and the extra challenges that shooting with real film would involve (heat, stuff to carry, size of the camera...). It's fantastic work in every way. I particularly liked the grading too. Khalid, I hope your documentary is a great success.

Knowing the limits of your tools and working within them to best artistic effect shows great technical and creative competence. Khalid's photography is beautiful and compelling.
 
This is really inspiring work. I'm amazed. It doesn't matter that it was shot on a 5D or whatever. The images speak for themselves. Good luck on the edit!
 
Why does a simple thread of a person posting their work for feedback have to turn into a pissing contest about cameras? and, then... take it even another step further and turn it into a thread of people pissing all over each other for no good reason.

Stop. Let the man have his thread. Save the measuring contests for another thread rather than crapping all over this dudes please

Did you use the Magic Lantern firmware on these shots? If so, for what purpose exactly?

I've been thinking of getting the Pocket Dolly as well. Did you push the camera by hand on the rails or did you use the hand crank?
 
The Magic Lantern Firmware was primarily used for interviews and anytime audio was to be recorded. The firmware disables canons audio auto gain and replaces it with a fixed digital audio gain. Another great feature is its on screen audio meters, which helped drastically.

Keep an open mind. The 5d2 is like a weapon in the right hands.
I own both (R1 + 5d2) and this little sucker gives me goosebumps all the time.

I think the epic FF will be it. Best out of both worlds. Killer codec and FF DOF.
Cant wait till tomorrow.
