Canon 24-70 2.8 II gets IS (maybe)

It looks like Canon has revised their decision to release the 24-70 2.8 II without IS, all that delaying makes sense now:

As it was expected in April, that certainly gives them time to add IS.

This was a disapointment for me aswell. If you are in need of IS, there are two lenses I have noticed that are right up there with the Canon L with the quality, but for a fraction of the price.

Tom, the thing is, it looks like Canon is changing their plans after all the critics (and maybe because of Tamron's new lens too). The 24-70 2.8 II has been announced for april, but delayed and delayed again. Now there is a patent for a version with IS and the lens is finally coming in september(?).

BTW, according to canonrumours Canon had tested multiple designs of that lens before they announced it and one of that prototypes had IS. One can only guess why they did choose a a different version in first place. I hope they used the additional time to eliminate the reasons that stood against the IS-version.

I have had mine on order since it was first released. It would be nice if they included IS from the start and just told everyone it was going to ship in September over keeping silent about a ship date.
