We're trying to upgrade to 16_v3.1.8 and we've followed the instructions and repeated the process 6 times with no results. We even tried to upgrade via the SD card as done in the past, but to no result.

The instructions say to format the CF card in the camera, then in the computer put the upgrade directory onto the disk, then put it back in the camera and boot up to get an upgrade screen, but this never happens. Even when I go to maintenance panel and look for upgrades it does not recognize the folder. Can somebody please help ASAP! We have to deliver the camera in 30 minutes and have no idea what to try now!

Thank you in advance...

I am alerting tech support for you now, Jim.

Meanwhile, the one time this happened to me, I had to reformat the CF CARD, then dump the upgrade file back onto it, then attempt install.

Thanks Brent.

We're running version 15_v2.1.7

I have reformatted 3 different cards and followed the procedures 2x each with no result...

Did you load Build 15 v2.2.8 that is in the Build 16 v3.1.8 download? That has to be loaded first....

I think I got it figured out... The first zip did not contain the 15_v2.2.8 upgrade. It may have been a download error. I'm trying it now after re-downloading the zip and tada, new instructions to follow. Cross my fingers!

Nope, it was a Brent error. The first Build 16 v3.1.8 I posted today did not have it in there. I added it to the zip file later. Next time you see me, please smack me upside the head and say "Doh!" :)

Ahh... I though I had mad cow disease for a minute because I just downloaded the other zip an hour or so ago and it wasn't there. Also, Wordpad doesn't read your install guide file well - it doesn't contain any word wrap info so I probably missed the v15 upgrade info as I was reading a half mile of lateral text.

Thanks for the great, prompt support. I'll smack ya later!

Hey Brent. Another thing the upgrade notes do not detail is whether after the upgrade, do I need to remove the CF card before rebooting. I did as suggested after upgrading - I shut down and it went into upgrade mode again upon reboot. Not wanting to screw up the process I said yes, so now I assume I may be doing it twice, or is the process done after a single reboot???

Now who's the DOH!

Good question, Jim. Have not seen that one myself so I will ask.

As far as I know, the camera should not recognize an "upgrade" if the versions are the same. You only have the B16 3.1.8 upgrade folder on the CF CARD, right? Not the B15 v2.2.8 as well?

Happened to me once too. I did the same thing and had success.
