Cannes Festival 2017

Hi. I'll be attending this year's festival and it's my first time going. Any Redusers attending this year? Are there any tips anyone is willing to share? The first thing I'm trying to figure out is where to stay without going bankrupt.

Everyone hangs out at a bar/cafe called Le Petit Majestic. It used to be open 23 hours a day to accommodate the crowd but that's been nixed. Check it out, great for networking. Tonnes of people spill out onto the road every night. If you're after a dinner with a clubbing vibe Baoli is decent. It's France so service can be rude. If you're going to a fancy party but forgot your bowtie, Uber deliver them (at extortionate prices). Get your passes as early as possible. Don't bother with hotels, Air B&B is the way to go espcially if you're going as a group and can spread the cost for an apartment rather than booking multiple rooms in the many cramped hotels near the croisette.

Thanks for the tips. I just tried booking a room through AirBnB, selected the dates, paid and got my confirmation. A few minutes later I got a cancelation message and a note from the owner saying that he was tripling the price for that week :w00t:

This would be typical. My suggestion is that renting a car and finding lodgings in the next towns like Antibes, Golf Juan, Juan les pins, etc. is far cheaper and easier. What counts are the parties and events in the evening and getting a taxi then is nearly impossible and incredibly expensive. Have some wheels and save yourself some headaches.

You might want to pop back to base for a shower/change of clothes/screeners/business cards etc. when you get a last minute invite. If you're drinking at any of the parties then you can't drive. I can't speak about any of the normal taxi services but there were plenty of uber drivers about, didn't have to use anything else myself.

Most of the towns I am speaking of are about 15 min. drive away.

Thanks for all the advice. I pulled the trigger on a hotel on the actual croisette. It seems from everything I've read that it does make a big difference in being able to have a base of operations close by. The next step is figuring out the meetings with different companies. The good thing is that the festival provided me with temporary access to Cinando.
