Hey gang, looks like the 1.8" mag trade in program (for 512 mini-mags), is no longer available:

Got this response from my Bomb Rep today:

"To confirm, RED is no longer doing the REDMAG Trade-In."

To paraphrase, Jarred has always made clear "all good things must pass"....so it appears (at long last) this wonderful and generous program has come to a close.

It had been in place for a LONG TIME, so makes total sense, especially now the 512's have been replaced by 480's.

Kudos to RED for keeping it in place so long.

Such an amazing thing that Red offered with the mag trade in program. Its benefits like this that makes me want to always stay with Red cameras...Other then the fact that they produce such amazing images and have the best operating system/codec:)

Lets just hope that Red continues this program for a bit when they one day move to their new and improved media!

Hmmmm...... it would have been nice to know it was ending, though. I haven't yet needed mini-mags but was counting on saving $4K when pushed to do it. Just would have been nice if there was a "last call." :-(

(Awaiting Scarlet-W which was when I would need minimags. Not much use for them on DSMC1 Scarlet.)

Terry, as Nick mentions, this program has been around quite awhile. And, it was specific to the 512GB MINI-MAGs. Given that and the 480's retail price being so close to the "trade in" price of the 512s, it was the right time to put it to bed...

It's an even better deal now. Sell your 1.8" and buy the 480 at the discount price!

Brent, I always appreciate the extra mile RED goes to for its customers but, you have to admit, there are these moments when communication slips through the cracks. I hadn't looked at the new pricing when I saw this post and I see the "damage" is not as great as it was. But it is only from the perspective of the seller's side where an additional $1600 (4 x $400, in my case) is "close." :-)

I know I can sell my standard mags but it's hard to tell exactly what they are worth as the market moves to the new format. I'll deal with it. LOL
