  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Can you spot the Dragon?

Haha, Me Five!

Although I disagree with his assessment that 60% picked #2 because they recognized its superiority. I picked it because I thought it had the same flaws as MX. :|

What flaws? I thought shot 1 & 3 looked like shit haha

The transition on her shoulder from shadowed to lit/less-tan/spray-tanned just steers towards the yellow more than I like. Seeing as it's survived from one sensor designer to another I can only assume it's a REDCode or debayer trait not a sensor anomaly. It's like there's a diffusion on the blue but not green channel.

I noticed the yellow splotches as well. My guess is it's compression like you say. Always room to improve ;)

Yeah I noticed the MX-like yellowish shadowed skin tones too :(

I won too! (R1 owner) LOL

Hopefully you'll have better picture to share next time. I'm kind of ashamed I got involved in this joke.

Thank you so much for playing Spot The Dragon (k: http://www.mytherapy.tv/newsletter/welcome-to-2014-2/). We have had over 2100 votes so far. The correct answer to our question was image 2 and 60% of voters picked this image as the one with the best looking skin tone. This is fantastic proof that we are not the only ones who are seeing an improvement in skin tone rendering from this camera against its competitors. We can conclude that the camera sensor plays a crucial role in the quality of skin tone capture.

We will be giving a detailed presentation on the subject of Skin Tone and Digital Film Cameras at the BSC Expo on January 24th and 25th. You can register for the show at the BSC website: http://www.bscexpo.com/

The question on the form says "Which image was shot on a Red Dragon?," not "Which image do you think has the best skin tones?"

Just to clarify.

That is a good point. I kinda hoped #2 was not the Dragon... :)

But I also know Dragon does not need to look like that.
