  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Can we get an update on the status of Rocket-X?

With Dragon deliveries ramping up, my concern now is with Rocket-X, currently not available.

Can we get some feedback on when these will be available?

I can do my own fast-ish transcodes via my trashcan nmpro, but if I want to put this camera on a big job, I'll need a post workflow solution which can be available to my clients for rental or use. A fast computer system is fine for individual use but not having a Rocket-X available for clients is potentially hampering.

Any news on this?

I'm also interested in user feedback - does the card seem more robust than its predecessor? Or too early to tell? Who has these?

Thanks!

+1 for rocket x necessity... between a buddy and me we have 3 epics to upgrade, but only one has been upgraded cuz until we get a rocket x we need to stay MX based for our old rocket...so any information regarding rocket x is highly appreciated! thanks

if you read the post Niko, it's not MY computer that I'm concerned about.... being able to provide a portable solution for clients is my concern.

thanks, Peter. That gives me a starting point, at least... although if they are caught up, I imagine I should have a fulfillment notice in my inbox very soon. Hope so....if 2 weeks is the lag, I can be patient for another week.

I ordered Rocket X a year ago, and my rep still has no word about it...says its quite backordered but that was a month ago, hopefully things change. I have been talked out of buying the card and going with a new Mac Pro instead, seems like a good solution and I am less and less seeing the need for Rocket X.

When FCPX or Adobe Premier is compatible with RocketX and able to shred dragon footage then I would consider again a card.

When you say "fast-ish transcodes", on your nMP...not to get off topic but what kind of speeds are you getting?

You will start seeing ROCKET-X pick up this week more next week and a good volume the rest of the month.

Same here, if anyone needs a RED ROCKET-X to rent, let me know.

We have one in the Magma 3T chassis, which comes with the Thunderbolt 2 upgrade.

I've also got a Rocket X in a Thunderbolt Chassis from Sonnet (TB2). Works great. It's available for rent right now in Los Angeles. PM me if you need one. Also have Ultrastudio for SDI video out to a monitor since Rocket X currently lacks. Works with Resolve and Rocket X very well.

I'm still waiting as well. Ordered it over a year ago. Paid for everything in full in December. Got my dragon upgrade about a month ago and I'm still waiting for my RR-X. I have a feature starting June 20th and I was told that I probably wouldn't have it.
Maybe with this ramp up I'll be receiving mine soon enough to use on the film.
I have rented one for a job I recently shot. It was in a Maxx digital TB2 box. Worked great. 2x real time with my new mbp. Also had less then ideal drive set up. I was gong from 6kHD to pro res hq. Footage looks great.
It would be great to have the one I ordered so that we can do some testing in pre-production and not have to rent one.
Hoping to get that email.

That is what I wanted to hear, the word from RED. It sounds hopeful. Thanks, Michael.

I have one job coming up, in particular, which will pay it off and don't want to miss that window of opportunity, since I'll be on that job for at least two months. And if I don't pay it off during that window, it will be poor timing for me...just to have it sitting, not working, and out-of-pocket. So fingers crossed.

Red hit me and buddy up on Friday, so things are looking good and the ramp us seems to be in full effect :)

For those who might have read this thread. I just received my Rocket-X allocation yesterday. So one week, 3 days after Dragon arrived.

Happy that the delay turned out to be very short after all. It seems that RED really has caught up on these cards, at least for camera owners. I hope the open market isn't too far off....

thanks, RED!
