What's the best strategy for glass from Red??? Order a 15-50mm and so that there is something in the cue??? 50-150mm??? Is anything else shipping in reasonable time??Cooke, Zeiss, ???

Your opinions are extremely valued.

Firstly the RED 18 to 50 is out of this world, The 50 to 150 is amazing too. I wish they were T.2 though. None the less, at T3 or F2.8 in photo terms, they are awesome. Do not hesitate in ordering them. You will not be disappointed.

We have used the Angenieux 15 -40 and we couldn't see much difference to be honest. Contrast was a little higher in the RED, sharpness was the same.
RED LENS 6 grand!, Angenieux 60 grand.
I'm sure you can do the math.

Unfortunately RED lenses are going to be the best bang for buck PL mounted lenses in the world once released. Reason why i said unfortunaly is becuase the good RED PRO lenses won't be out for ages.
Note: I said "BANK FOR BUCK".

We have Ziess 1.3 master primes, we have 2 Large Cooke Zooms, full set of CINE MAGIC t2 Ziess shift& tilts. Don't ask me how much we paid for this stuff.

Reason why we have these lenses is we are working now and need good glass now.
RED won't have there lens systems up and ready for months, years maybe, who knows. If you are miles back in a Que., well forget it. your screwed. RENT.

Me personally, Id say order all the RED Lenses when you can because there lenses will be very very good. But In the mean time, search mother earth for good used glass. You will struggle, but it's out there. When the RED stuff turns up, try it out, if it's not as good as your used stuff, sell the RED lenses, If the RED lenses are better than your used lenses, then sell those lenses for more than what you paid for it.

Glass is hard to get and people are paying silly money for it.

Trust me, I'm one of those silly buggers.

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting on the 50-150mm.

We ordered the set of RED primes a year a go.. does anyone know if serial numbers have been assigned for those? I'm wondering how those lenses will be distributed.
