I just recently bought a bunch (8) of WD RED (nothing to do with the camera) 3Tb.
One of this drives is nearly dead. I can read the Folder, subfolders RDC and even the R3D files show up on the desktop.
I tried Disk Util, Disk Warrior and some other Software. When I try to copy a file to a different location, it copies for a while and then comes Error -36.
I also tried in the Terminal dot_clean. In one Folder I have over 90 clips, only 23 I was able to copy to a different location.
I have much more original files there, but have not had the time to try those one-by-one.
I just wonder, if REDUndead would work there too?
I installed it and gave as source the WD drive, but it said something like invalid.

Also I have an other question: on the copy progress bar, I can see, some copy till 3/4, some only 1/2 or less.
Would it be possible to save that what has been copied somehow?
To loose 1/2 of the shot would be not as bad than loosing the whole!
Thank you.

-36 errors are I/O errors. could be the cable, computer port or chipset in the enclosure. Try taking the drive out of the enclosure and putting it in a new enclosure or a sata to USB cable or something and see what happens.

Jason,
I tried everything.... first thought its the cable of the docking station...new cable/new enclosure, connected to Mac Pro, changed connection, connected to Mac Book Pro, mounted the drive in my Mac Pro under Mountain Lion..... often the desktop icons disappeared when it was trying to access the drive, removed my Sys drive in the Mac Pro, inserted a new drive installed Marivick, disconnected every thing else and only had the WD 3TB and the sys drive in the Mac Pro.
Results were all the same: copy progress bar needs a while to show any bytes, but then it copies till it finds (I suppose bad sector on the disk) and then gives an error. I talked with the Apple people, WD tech support.... nothing brought me any further.
