  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Can I just call it EPIC-S?

Epic Light could also be used. Or simply just Scarlet since it's the only one around. Most of the time the Epic is also simply refered to as 'Epic'.

You're assuming of course that there is no Epic-S on the roadmap. I'm not saying there is or isn't but one thing Epic-S was potentially going to have was 5K recording but at limited frame rates. Scarlet-X is essentially a 4K camera right now. I think these things are best left to Jim and Jarred, as the new strategy is to tell you about things when they are closer to shipping.

Then again, you can call the camera anything you want. :-)

Call it what you want.

Just go create some images and some films !!!

I'm so excited. (broken record right?) I can't wat to get mine. I have done some cool stuff with the af100, but it's time to step up and grab the jobs i've been missing out on. And of course those lead me to unlimited creativity. Wahoo! eh...eh hem.

I know…

At least five times I have made the Freudian slip of calling Scarlet-X an Epic-S (even after ordering two).

The reality is that we are super excited about the Scarlet-X because it IS in essence an Epic-S.

The S stands for ssssssloooooooooooowww.

For a lot of technical work and VFX and other applications besides, a “slow” EPIC for an excellent price is just what the doctor ordered (at least for us). Although a "slow" Epic has a lot more effective bandwidth than most other things out there (to be fair).

I know it’s not very PC to think of things in those terms but that’s how I see the “instrument”/camera and am very thankful for how it all turned out.

Ta.

Eric

Eric, I totally agree. It will be a huge step for us at sugareffect because we do so much green screen and composite work. Can't wait. I hope it actually comes before Feb...
