  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Can I change my place in line?

Makes a lot of sense. What about leases?

The deposit being received by RED locks your place in queue. Camera will not be shipped until balance is paid on the camera, correct. This process was put in place to allow people to get a camera with a feature set they feel they "can work with". This was not put in place to allow people the opportunity to delay delivery until they can afford it. So, it is feature-set driven, not customer-can-afford-it driven.

Hope that makes sense,

Makes a lot of sense, with enough leeway to make any reasonable person happy.

How are you handling leases? i.e. most leasing companies want to issue payment on receipt of goods (and assume that their net 10,30 or whatever terms are acceptable to the vendor) yet RED seems to have a cash (cashier's check, wire transfer) on the barrelhead policy at the moment. I'm #206 and am refinancing for cash but also looking at a leasing company option as well.

Echo that one!

I'm prepared to pay cash if needed, but for companies looking to depreciate a 50-60K purchase it would be preferable to be able arrange purchase through a leasing company and gain the depreciation tax advantage and better cash flow management. With most lenses not shipping by the time my camera is avalailable, that makes it tough...

Any thoughts on this by the Red team?

Why not just expense the camera outright? That's what the smart money does. Forget depreciation! Just EXPENSE it and get the write-off all at once! The limitation is about $170,000. Of course, you can only write-off anything to the extent that you have income from your video/film activities or from outside work.

Expensing is the only way to fly. . . if you can do it.
