I have a scarlet-W. And I have a SONY FX6 as well. I'm shooting with a 10bit S-log with a SONY FX6. The client is also happy with my results. However, I don't think this result is always enough. I can't get rid of the feeling that the color is very thin.
As you know, used GEMINI has become very affordable. Please advise me about changing Scarlet-W to GEMINI by investing around 5,000~6,000. Can GEMINI satisfy me? I am using Zeiss CP.2 lens.

Sorry folks, but if I may ask, what would low hours be in your opinion. I was thinking about upgrading to a RED soon. And the Gemini has caught my eye. Thanks in advance

Just keep in mind, low hours is a bit of a false indicator. Is it low hours with normal usage or low hours that was abused, dropped, etc. High numbers on the other hand could indicate a camera that has been reliable. Again though, either way the hours may not tell a full story, so you have to do your best to buy from a reliable source, inspect the camera if you can, test it, and hope for the best given that older bodies and their long term support is not a guarantee, especially with things changing with RED as a company. Gemini is a unique RED and if you can find a solid one should perform well for years to come.

i had a new out of box camera that had failed parts. so you don't want a Red with too low of hours, as the main test for the components is the customer use. so you might want something between 300 and 2000 as a general rule, but like the previous reduser Steve wrote, if possible get it from a trusted person.

i don’t want to spam an ad here or something, and my sincere apologies if I am not supposed to do that, but if you are interested I am selling mine that I have pretty much never used since I bought it back in 2020 with all the protectors from the factory no scratches no bumps and 15 hours on the clock only. I was hoping to create some masterpieces but unfortunately life turned out a whole lot more differently for me and I never had the chance, now I’m working at a completely different domain so there is no chance for me in the short term to get back into filmmaking. At least for a little while. Let me know if you interested. The camera is pretty much brand new! And I’m willing to ship it to you. We can perhaps arrange a video call and I can show you anything you want ?

Thank you for your time

I have no idea if Red still look at cameras for a small fee but I'd recommend that if possible! Where are you based?

Re Gemini Vs Scarlet W

I have a Gemini and it is a very interesting and super versatile camera but it doesn't deliver a less 'thin' picture than the 2nd gen of Dragon.
