  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Can anybody comment on the Fixed Scarlet v HVX200 image

Teal and Orange

Teal and Orange

Teal and Orange was a problem some Kodak films had in the 1970's when EDTA bleach came into use.

It is the "bad lab" look since its what you get after 4 generations of exhausetd developer and incomplete bleaching, then you take a faded print and film chain it to VHS, turn up the chroma and what is left is Teal and Orange.

What I think is going on is that people have come to think of the "bad years" for Kodak in the 1970's as being the "film look" since that is what they saw as children, rather than the Technicolor print era made from color seps that ended in the early 1970's.

So white blanced images look "video" and messed up yuck is the "film look"?

Its better done with makeup and set-dressing, but those cost more than a LUT (see Fiddler on the Roof (1971) for the pre LUT era color design).

The luma model does impact Bayer cameras since the image is processed in both luma-choma and RGB steps. NTSC, PAL and SECAM use different values for Luma, so people in Europe maybe saw a different over all look, but with digital today that Luma standard has shifted some more... SECAM seems to have a greenish cast when I see it converted to NTSC?

Lol at HVX. That camera cannot even produce decent 720p. You cannot compare that with a 3K RAW camera. It's like comparing a color photograph print to a photo coming out of a fax machine.
