Can an old Quickplate be rewired to an EPIC connector?

So the belt clip sells for $325. The new quick plate sells for twice as much. Not seeing the logic there at all...

Then there's an adapter cable to use my Red One QP for $190. Really none of these options are ideal, as I'd like a modded cable length that would reduce the cable as much as possible. The Electra length is sweet, the price isn't.
SO--Are there 3rd parties who can rewire the old QP connector to a 1B connector? Same question for shortening the length of any of the above cables?

Of course, the PRO/IO's gonna throw a wrench into all of this when it ships.
Man I love AKS time!

Lemo connections aren't the cheapest you're looking at around $100 for the 1B and 2B connections alone, plus paying someone to rewire your QP and you're not much cheaper than the $190 RED is charging you. Why not buy the belt clip and sell your current QP to make up some of the difference?

I found LEMO 1b on Econnek for like $10-$15. Don't know exactly which one yet, but...Everywhere else 1B sells around $30...Trew Audio in Nashville will do the rewire. If not, I know some other folks here who can do it.

Eric,

From what I see these are NOT lemo, they are knock offs. That would explain the lower prices. I would guess they are not built as well but I have been wrong before. Let us know how they turn out.

I haven't bought anything yet. There were several other sites selling various LEMOs from $25-50ish. I will let you know when I get the rewire done.

Beware if they are Lemo copies and not genuine Lemo - there have been cases in the past where cheap copies' shells were able to be forced to rotate such that the keying was in the wrong place, and the pins could then potentially connect to the wrong sockets resulting in camera damage.

Not saying you can't get copies that are good quality, but just be careful.
