Hi everyone,

I've run out of most of my money (depending on gigs in the new year) to build up more of the camera. I'm looking into a tripod to get me through the next 6 months (probably personal projects as can rent better ones for gigs).

Basically my rig would be

Red One Mx body
1 top handle with top mount
7 inch monitor (with a f970 battery attached to it)
A nikon still lens
SSD module

I will have a battery belt clip to take the battery weight off the camera. I was looking at a tripod that I used to own (got stolen) and it was heavy duty with a nice fluid head. Looking it up there it could hold 7.5kg which from converting on the net is roughly 16 - 17 pounds. Do you's think it could hold that rig since there is not to much to it?

Over the course of the year I will of course be building a rig with rails etc and when I plan on doing that I will get a heavier tripod.

Thanks

James

Well you could weigh your complete setup and that would tell you? Don't forget the "taller" or top heavy you make your rig, the more it will fight any counterbalance your pan & tilt head has. The better manufacturers publish charts of max camera load vs centre of gravity vs height above the base. So the lower centre of gravity you can make it, the less strain it will put on any given tripod.

Also have 7.5 kg tripod head. I think it will be just fine for the beginning.
