Is red allow me to use other manufacturers CF Card with higher capacity with Red One?

RED had to develop it's own 16 GB cards since none of the off the shelf ones can handle the sustained transfer rate, so I doubt any of the 32GB ones will work.

Red has locked the camera's maximum image size to 2K recording for non-Red branded cards (with Lexar UDMA 8GB 300x being the exception since it IS the basis of the Red 8GB card).

So even if it were fast enough, which I doubt, you'd have to get Red to add it to the camera's internal table to allow it to record the full 4K image.

Some users are claiming the Lexar 16GB UDMA 300X cards work. I have tried two of them from two different sources and the camera would not allow me to record at higher resolutions than 2K with them. So it seems there is either some different variations of the 16GB cards out there (several others have reported that the 16GB cards don't work for them, either) or possibly variations in CF reader firmware in the camera or something. Short answer about the Lexar 16GB cards is, try them at your own risk, they probably won't work anyway.

Thanks Jeff.

I was aware of the situation, that's why I was asking... to see if we know more.

Apparently, we don't.
